Tips & Techniques
Q What are those brown/reddish spots in my lawn?

A Chances are you have red thread or pink patch. It is a fungus that thrives on an abundance of rain with temperatures around 65 degrees. It may cause a pink, cottony substance in the lawn, or the blades may turn a deep red color near the tips. It is generally not destructive, so patience is the key here as it should grow out of the lawn on its own. Be sure there is an adequate amount of nitrogen in the soil and avoid watering at night. Fungicides are an option, but usually not necessary for the cost.
Q I found grubs in my lawn or mulch beds. Do I need to be worried?

A No. The grubs may be present, but are not of any danger until they start feeding. Be sure that you are receiving a grub control treatment to prevent damage from them and be sure to keep your lawn watered. Grubs favor hot, dry turf areas.
